The Founder Effect - Part Six
A mixed-media figurative experiment.
True courage found Abraham's father at the most unlikely moment. Accepting the illegitimate king's proposition was the only way to secure the livelihood of the flock and a future free of tyranny.
He picked up the sword and a brutal battle ensued. As frightened as he was, he pinned the king to the ground and lunged with the might of ten men in the name of his son. The king's death was certain.
But this was not to be. Releasing his grip at the final moment, Abraham's father chose mercy. His words described a future where all were treated with dignity. A new place and time to live not in fear rather in peace among one another.
Families were reunited and rations restored. New laws ensured equality and freedoms the flock had never before experienced.
The mad king was exiled, never to return. In time, stories would tell of an elderly man with a serpent tattoo passing peacefully against the base of a large oak tree many years later, a lonely man. In his hands, a sealed letter with contents unknown. On its stained front was the word "Abraham".
